In 2012, Ducati added the Panigale 1199 R World Superbike homologation moto for the 2013 model year. It has lightened engine internals, including titanium connecting rods, and carbon fiber external parts, raising power to 151 kW (202 hp) with the track only exhaust and reducing weight to 364 pounds (165 kg).
This bike has been upgraded with Termignoni Superstock Manifold Kit. This is a $2,696.03 upgrade to the full Termignoni exhaust that comes with 1199R. It was developed by Ducati Corse for the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship to improve bike performance when exiting corners. The kit also included a carbon fiber under seat plate and remapping software for the ECU.
The top speed of the Panigale R was reported by Road & Track to be 202 miles per hour (325 km/h),with the track only Termignoni exhaust system it ships with. apparently derived from the speed at which the bike hits the rev limiter given nominal gearing and wheel size.
"Built to homologate Ducati's World Superbike race machine, the Ducati 1199 Panigale R is the ultimate version of the flagship Ducati 1199. "
"Without exception, this is the fastest production bike ever to lap a racetrack. During its development, Ducati's test rider averaged lap times only one second a lap slower than MotoGP's CRT class."
